about jennifer
Jennifer Tinkham's early love of music grew out of family sing-a-longs and her dad playing recordings of classical music. For her, music is closely tied to the joy of collaboration with others. She believes that anyone who perseveres can learn to play an instrument and find their own joy in music. Jennifer graduated from the University of Akron with a Piano Performance Bachelor of Music degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree in music (emphasis on voice).
Her own collaborations have included playing violin in Kent State University's Symphony Orchestra, touring Italy and Switzerland as a University of Akron concert choir member, and playing numerous piano gigs in the Akron area.
As much as she enjoys performing, her great passion is teaching. Jennifer served on the board of the Tuesday Musical Association and held the position of co-counselor of Brahms Allegro Junior Music Club for three years, organizing and facilitating this music organization for school-age students. She taught general music for several years to all the students at Akron Montessori school, focusing on singing, theory, and planning school performances. Jennifer also has 20+ years experience teaching private piano lessons. The thread that runs through all her experiences has always been her love of teaching. She especially loves the opportunity to teach private lessons. It brings her great joy to personally know, care for, and build up every student. She wants each student to feel seen. Her desire is to help each one find what they love about music and grow in their abilities.
