about sam

Sam Jungman, tenor, is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music (’23), where he earned a degree in Vocal Performance with an emphasis in Vocal Pedagogy while studying privately with Dr. JR Fralick. Whenever not in rehearsal or performing on stage, Sam spent much of his musical training time sharing his love of voice teaching by tutoring and presenting lectures to vocal pedagogy students while maintaining a private voice studio between Akron (where he is from) and Cleveland, beginning in 2020. In 2022, Sam used his work studying trans voice methods in the BWU Voice Clinic to create and present "Voice Training for Gender Diverse Performers" at Baldwin Wallace University to allow other vocal educators to include everyone in their teaching.

Sam enjoys working with passionate singers privately and in vocal and acting masterclasses at high schools and theaters across NEOhio, performing choral works and operatic productions, preparing classical and musical theater voice recitals, and writing his own original pop songs in his free time.

In 2025, as a first-year member of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing), two of Sam's students earned 1st place at the Ohio NATS Competition in high school and adult-aged divisions, and many students have been nominated for Dazzles Awards and earned their way to the second round of Shining Star CLE, as well as making it into their collegiate music program of choice and singing as lead vocalists for various pop, rock, and jazz ensembles. As of 2026, Sam music directs the top two competitive show choirs at ETC Heid’s School of Musical Arts, and has enjoyed directing pop a cappella vocal ensembles and vocal music directing various drama productions.

Sam teaches based on solid function of the voice so that a well-supported and exciting technique can be applied to any genre, using newer evidence-based CCM and musical theatre exercises as well as classical ideas as old as the study of singing itself. In the voice studio, helping singers find comfort, ease, and passion in their vocal artistry is Sam's top priority, while on stage it is his goal to reach the hearts of those sitting in the audience.

Most recent stage credits include Eddie Pensier (Bremen Town Musicians) and Le Remendado (Carmen) at Opera Western Reserve, Liberto (L'Incoronazione di Poppea) at Playhouse Square with BWVP, Frederic (The Pirates of Penzance), and Don Basilio (Le Nozze di Figaro) at Baldwin Wallace Conservatory, Beast (Beauty & The Beast), and Kenickie (Grease), as well as many vocal concerts and other performances including a tour of recitals, "Let My Song Fill Your Heart," in London, England in March 2023, and, most recently, a musical theatre voice recital, "In Bloom," in July 2026.
